What’s new
New features, fixes, and the story so far.
1.3.1 — why it’s first
- See why a task is near the top. Today shows a short reason under each task, and in its tooltip.
- The same order everywhere. Your morning summary notification, wrap-up, the agenda export, and Today’s tips follow the same smart order as Today, and notifications update when that order changes.
- Deleted Canvas items stay deleted. Even if Canvas briefly drops them from your feed. Old deletion records clear themselves once the item has been gone from Canvas for 30 days.
- Safer requests. There’s now a limit on one capture field.
1.3.0 — a fresh look
- A new look. A new pixel Q logo and app icon, and a redesign of Today, capture, the task editor, focus, history, the weekly review, and Settings. There’s also a text size setting in Settings → Appearance.
- Your timer follows you. Time logged on a task and your working hours now sync between Macs. Logged time never goes down unless you reset it.
- At risk matches everywhere. Q uses your working hours and logged time, so it agrees with the badge on your Mac. When something is at risk, Q offers to start a focus session on it right from Today.
- Weekly review matches on every Mac. Logged time and the exam flag sync, so your recap is the same wherever you open it.
- Focus from anywhere. Say “focus on physics for 50 minutes” or “stop focusing”, and the time counts toward the task.
- Real “Due soon” shares. Long work due in the next 7 days shows the time Cue planned for each day, not an even split.
- Smarter order. Cue learns from your deadlines and how you finish work, and uses it to order Today and to answer “what should I do first?”.
- Better new-item cards. Edit the place and notes before you save, and turn Add to Google Calendar on or off for new events when Google Calendar is connected with permission to add events.
- Parser fixes. Adding something already on a list does nothing, a trailing “urgent” is understood, and a bare 11:59 means the end of the day.
- Safer saves. Cue saves your tasks and sync state more carefully on your Mac, so a crash can’t bring back things you deleted on another Mac. Deleted Canvas items also stay deleted.
- A new website. The site has a new look to match.
1.2.0 — it follows you
- More of your task follows you. A task’s checklist, extra links, and reminder choice now sync between Macs.
- Calendar places and class schedules. An Apple Calendar event’s location shows on its task on your other Mac, and your class schedule syncs too.
- Places and notes from speech. Say “study group at Levine 101 at 6” to save the place, or “…, bring the charger” to save a note.
- Delete by voice, again. “Delete the laundry one” now works.
- A truer plan. Work due earlier is no longer counted again on later days.
- Safer pairing. Pairing codes have an extra limit on how often they can be tried.
- Cue no longer speaks. The spoken briefing and spoken answers are gone. Q still answers in text.
1.1.0 — your week, on every Mac
- Plan your week by voice. Say “study 6 hours this week” or “gym 3 times this week” to review sessions that fit around your events, from today through Sunday. Q can help plan your week too.
- Use Cue on another Mac. Get a pairing code in Settings → Account. It works once and expires after 10 minutes.
- Places follow your tasks. Task locations sync between Macs, and edits you make during a sync are kept.
- Edit by voice. Move, rename, or delete a task by asking. If several tasks fit, Cue asks which one.
- A clearer first run. Skip the account step to stay on this Mac only. Cue asks before downloading the better-accuracy voice model, and Open at login starts off.
- Help when you need it. Open help and support from the app, reconnect Google Calendar when it needs permission to change events, and find links and credits in About.
- Plainer messages. See when Cue is offline, notifications or the microphone are off, or a request was saved only in Cue because Google Calendar couldn’t be reached. Failed update checks offer the download page.
- Real accounts no longer show sample tasks. Failed saves let you try again, and error logs keep only the type of error, never what you wrote.
1.0.0 — first public release
Free for everyone, with no invite needed.
- Create an account in the app. Enter your first name to get started. Invite codes still work.
- Check for Updates… in the Cue menu, with a note in Settings when a new version is available.
- Requests like “wake me up at 7” now create a timed task with a reminder. Reminders that came with a request follow later changes; reminders you choose on your Mac are kept.
- The privacy notice and policy use plain language and explain that connected Apple Calendar events are copied to Cue’s server for Q and planning.
- Send Feedback opens the public issue tracker when you’re offline. Release downloads include the version in the filename and a checksum so you can check the file.
- Removed leftover alarm cards from change previews and the Coming soon placeholder in Settings → Integrations.
0.9.0 — release candidate
The redesign build, shared with testers ahead of 1.0.
- A new look. Light and dark themes, a bubble-shaped Q, a floating sidebar, and a calmer Today view.
- Find and import faster. Search actions, tasks, events, and categories with ⌘K. Import deadlines from a syllabus or turn a timetable into a semester of class events.
- See how your week is going. Focus timers, evening wrap-ups, weekly reviews, streak badges, at-risk deadline warnings, and a month view that shows busy days.
- More useful tasks. Repeating tasks, snooze, subtasks, reminders, links, and files. The menu bar shows your next event and what’s coming up.
- Take your agenda with you. Export as text, Markdown, or CSV; copy, save, print, or share it. Cue can also read your day aloud.
- Import and export calendar feeds, sync event locations with Google Calendar, and make bulk changes by voice with confirmation and one Undo.
- Search directly in the sidebar. Task estimates use a typical duration rather than your history, and tasks open in a compact form that closes when you click outside.
- Deleted tasks stay deleted. Repeating tasks keep their local time through daylight-saving changes, with the next occurrence after today. Damaged local files can’t upload sample tasks or delete real ones.
- Voice fixes handle filler words, late-night “today” and “tomorrow,” and requests to push tasks back.
- Removed Routines and Alarms, plus Plan my day, Quick wins, and the speaker button in Today’s header.
0.1.0-beta.1 — first beta
The first build for testers.
- Capture from anywhere. Press ⌥Space to speak or type, with on-device Whisper correcting the voice transcript.
- Know what’s next. A Today view, Canvas feed import, and answers to questions like “what’s due tomorrow?” and “am I free at 3?”
- Connect Google Calendar or Apple Calendar to bring in events and send additions, edits, and deletions back automatically.
- Faster replies, with most requests handled immediately by Cue’s own parser.
