Download Cue for Mac

Version 1.3.1 · macOS 15 or later

What’s changed · Older versions

Install Cue

  1. Download Cue using the button above and double-click the zip to unzip.
  2. Drag Cue into your Applications folder.
  3. Open Cue. macOS says it can’t verify the developer. Click Done.
  4. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down, and click Open Anyway next to Cue. Confirm with your password if asked.
  5. macOS asks once more. Click Open, and enter your password if asked.

Cue isn’t notarized by Apple yet, so macOS asks you to approve it once. You only do this the first time.

Verify your download

On the version 1.3.1 release, download both Cue-1.3.1-mac.zip and Cue-1.3.1-mac.zip.sha256 from Assets. Keep them together in your Downloads folder.

Open Terminal and run:

cd ~/Downloads
shasum -a 256 -c Cue-1.3.1-mac.zip.sha256

This compares the zip’s SHA-256 checksum against the .sha256 file. Continue only if Terminal reports Cue-1.3.1-mac.zip: OK. If it reports a mismatch or a missing file, download both files from the same release again and recheck before installing.

Updating

Choose Cue → Check for Updates… in the Cue menu, then download the new zip. Quit Cue, unzip the download, and drag Cue into Applications to replace the existing app.

Uninstalling

Quit Cue, open Applications in Finder, and move Cue to the Trash.

Removing the app doesn’t delete your account or server data. If you also want to delete those, first open Settings → Account in Cue. Use Export My Data… to save a copy, then Delete Account…. Account deletion is permanent and signs out every Mac using the account. See the privacy notice for details.
