What Cue does
A tour of Cue for Mac. It’s free, and you can talk to it.
Quick capture
Press ⌥Space in any app, then speak or type. Cue turns it into a task, event or reminder. You can change the shortcut in Settings → Hotkeys.
Try “physics pre-lab due at midnight”
Second listen with Whisper
Cue can download a better voice model (480 MB) so a second listen runs on your Mac. Nothing downloads unless you choose Download.
Try Settings → General → voice accuracy
Ask Q
Ask Q in the same bar about your schedule and get an answer, no tapping through screens.
Try “what’s due this weekend”
Today view
Overdue, due today and urgent items come first. Check things off, click a title to edit, or open Today from the menu-bar icon.
Try “What do I have tomorrow?”
Week planning
Ask for hours or sessions and Cue proposes a card of sessions in your free time, from today through Sunday (on a Sunday, through the following Sunday). Sessions avoid your events. Choose Do it to add them, or Never mind.
Try “study 6 hours this week”
Canvas, Google and Apple Calendar
Paste your Canvas calendar feed link to import assignments and due dates. Connect Google Calendar or Apple Calendar in Settings → Integrations. Apple Calendar events stay readable in Cue and changes sync back to the Calendar app.
Try Settings → Integrations → Connect
Syllabus import
Import a course syllabus to add its deadlines and exams in one step. You review the proposed items before anything is added.
Try File → Import Syllabus…
Class schedule
Add your weekly classes once and they show up as events all semester. Paste the timetable from your registrar or type it row by row.
Try Settings → Class schedule → Set Up…
Focus mode
Start a focus round on a task and each round is added to the task’s time. Select a task and press F, right-click it, or just say it.
Try “focus on physics hw for 50 minutes”
Evening wrap-up and week in review
From 5 PM the Today header offers a short wrap-up that steps through today’s unfinished tasks one at a time. Week in review shows the week’s numbers on one page, and you can copy the summary.
Try “wrap up my day”
At-risk deadlines
A task is marked At risk when it needs more time than you have free before it’s due. Cue counts your working hours (9 AM to 11 PM unless you change them) minus your events and the work other tasks due by the same deadline still need.
Try Settings → working hours
Command palette
Press ⌘K to jump to a page, open Settings, start a capture or search, without leaving the keyboard.
Try “Go to Week”
Reminders and notifications
Get a morning summary, a due-tonight heads-up and a weekly review, each of which you can turn off. Pick a default reminder before deadlines, or set one per task.
Try Settings → Notifications → Remind me before deadlines
More than one Mac
On your first Mac, open Settings → Account → Use Cue on another Mac to get a code. It works for 10 minutes, and only once. Enter it on the new Mac.
Try “Already have an account? Enter a pairing code”
Location on tasks
A task can carry a place. It shows on the task and syncs, so it appears on your other Mac too.
Try A place on a task
Privacy in short
What you enter is stored on Cue’s server so your list syncs. When Cue’s built-in parser can’t understand a capture, its text goes to OpenAI’s API. Apple Calendar events stay on your Mac unless you’re signed in, in which case Cue copies them to its server so Q can tell you when you’re free. You can export or delete your data in Settings → Account. Read the full privacy notice.
